Below is a list of the features which are included in Quake II RTX, which Nvidia plans to release on GitHub with source code, allowing Quake's fanbase to further edit and refine their work. Nvidia estimates that Quake II RTX runs 6x faster on their RTX 2080 than their GTX 1080 Ti, thanks to their use of concurrent integer and floating point compute, a feature of Nvidia's Turing architecture, and the company's RT (Ray Tracing) cores for Ray Tracing Acceleration. Owners of Quake II will be able to point Quake RTX towards the full game to grant full access to the game's campaign and multiplayer modes, complete with path traced graphical effects that are only possible through the powers of Ray Tracing. ![]() ![]() Nvidia has announced that they plan to release Quake II RTX on June 6th, enabling PC gamers with a Geforce RTX graphics card or other compatible hardware to experience the first three levels of Quake II in a fully remastered, path traced, state. ![]()
